Today, at ITU Telecom World 2009, WISeKey introduced a new suite of identity authentication programs centered around the new eKey+, a biometrically encrypted USB key worthy of James Bonds for the global telecommunications market.
Designed to help increase trust between users and network and e-commerce service providers, WISeKey said the security software suite will offer corporations, small business owners, and government agencies the ability to give their customers and colleagues access to their sensitive data to perform transactions from unsecured access points.
“The eKey+ is an innovative devise and service we developed after years of observing customer behavior patterns in e-banking and e-commerce for better consumer goods and government services,” said Carlos Moreira, WISeKey’s chairman and CEO.
The potential for fraud is a major hurdle for the evolution and growth of online commerce, according to the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD). Identity theft is defined as the process of using someone else’s personal information for your own personal gain. In 2008, identity theft worldwide increased by 22 percent from 2007. The Aberdeen Group has estimated that $221 billion a year is lost by businesses worldwide due to identity theft.
WISeKey’s market research shows the eKey+ product line is guaranteed to drive up average revenue per user for telecommunications and others companies and governments. The eKey+ is based on a biometrics-based multifactor authentication using embedded WISeKey PKI and Digital Identification technology.
At the Telecom World 2009 conference, Carlos Moreira reaffirmed WISeKey’s longtime commitment to facilitating better electronic transactions between businesses, governments, and citizens in a speech titled: “Tackling cyberthreats: towards effective global partnerships,” which was attended by two dozen government ministers and business leaders.
