LONDON, February 10 - Recognising entrepreneurs as having "the audacity to create, to innovate,
and to imagine the future," the Cartier Women's Initiative Awards aim to
encourage female entrepreneurs having just started their companies. Launched
in 2006 in partnership with the Women's Forum, McKinsey & Co., and INSEAD
business school, Cartier's program is an international business plan
competition for women entrepreneurs who lead creative, sustainable and
socially responsible enterprises.

Entrepreneurs and small businesses are seen as the engines of economic
growth and social development. Yet, many barriers still discourage women from
entrepreneurship. The shortfall is obvious: if as many women as men were to
engage in start-up activity, thousands of new companies and new jobs would
see the day.

The Awards are given annually to five laureates, one from each continent.
Applicants can be from any country and are invited to apply online by
presenting their business project in the initial phase (no older than five
years).

The prize includes personalised coaching, a $20,000 grant as well as an
invitation to the Women's Forum Global Meeting in Deauville (France).
Applications will be accepted until March 10, 2010.
