WILMINGTON, Delaware - DuPont Titanium Technologies (DTT) today announced a price increase for all DuPont titanium dioxide (TiO2) grades sold in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
Effective July 1, 2009, or as permitted by contract, prices in the Middle East will increase by US$100 per tonne (USD).
Effective July 1, 2009, or as permitted by contract, prices in Europe will increase by US$100 per tonne in the U.S. dollar markets and euro 50 per tonne in Eurozone markets.
Effective August 1, 2009, or as permitted by contract, North American (United States and Canada) prices for DuPont coatings, plastics, specialty, paper, and laminate titanium dioxide grades will increase by two (2) cents per pound (USD).
According to DuPont Titanium Technologies, these moderate increases balance a need for margin improvement to ensure stable supply with gradually improving global market conditions and a customer need for predictability of input costs. “After a difficult period of adjustment throughout the value chain over the past six to eight months, DuPont sees TiO2 inventories and production rates stabilizing,” said E. Bryan Snell, global business director — DuPont Titanium Technologies. “We expect some improvement in market conditions in the second half of 2009,” said Snell. “We feel it is important to state our modest price increase intentions early to allow planning time for our customers.”
