First Personal Injury Calls for Young Driver Education
By First Personal Injury, PRNESunday, April 11, 2010
MANCHESTER, England, April 12, 2010 - Personal injury claims (www.firstpersonalinjury.co.uk/) solicitors
at First Personal Injury have called for more education for young drivers.
Young drivers are more likely to have accidents than older drivers. Michael
Jefferies of First Personal Injury believes that campaigns such as the RoSPA
one should be more widespread, commenting that:
"The current RoSPA campaign focussing on young drivers is excellent. It's
informative and targets both new drivers and their parents. We need to see
more campaigns like this taking place in order to educate young drivers about
the potential hazards they face."
The RoSPA campaign highlights some alarming figures, such as the fact
that 3000 drivers under 18 are killed on the roads each year and that one in
three male drivers aged between 17 - 20 have a crash within the first two
years after passing their driving test. Michael Jefferies believes that the
figures call for action.
"As RoSPA points out, a lack of experience, peer pressure and a tendency
for an over-confident approach are just three contributing factors to these
alarming statistics. There are a host of reasons that young drivers,
particularly male young drivers, are so much more likely to have a road
accidents and these reasons need highlighting more widely, perhaps through
graphic national television or Internet campaigns. Road accidents involving
such young people are particularly tragic and cutting these numbers should be
a priority."
