Launched to coincide with Freixenet Cava Week, a new survey indicates that recession-hit Brits are more considered and keen to play it safe in all they do! However, the makers of the world’s favourite Cava found glimpses of fun and glamour just waiting to be uncorked!
Recession-hit Brits Play It Safe…
In a survey of 2,042 British adults, when asked what we would like to do on a whim, the overwhelming preference would be the safe option - as some 37% of respondents would choose to simply sit in a cafĂ© and watch the world go by, while (even after the dull summer we’ve had) a further 29% would choose to drive to a beach for a picnic! Meanwhile, we Brits turn our backs on daring deeds such as skydiving (6%) and romantic revelations like dancing with a stranger (7%); and shun child-like fun like space hopper racing (2%).
Brits Prefer Bank Apology to Bubbly!
The Credit Crunch has hit Brits hard - and we aren’t going to forgive the banks easily! When asked what was most likely to make them smile, the vast majority of respondents (42%) would smile if their bank offered them an apology and GBP100! This overshadowed all other options, including in second place - a bottle of Cava every Friday (14%).
Cava No.1 Choice To Fizz Up Bedtime Fun…
What better way to keep warm than cuddling up with a loved one - but, what food would you like to share in bed? The survey found that the no.1 choice of the nation (23% of those polled) would be to add sparkle to the occasion and enjoy a glass of fizz together. And at no.2 with 22% was chocolate. Meanwhile, traditional aphrodisiacs asparagus and oysters lagged behind with just 1% of votes each.
National Treasures Are More Fun…
When asked who would be most fun to spend time with, the poll showed that the top woman would be funny girl, Dawn French, with a massive 40% of votes. And, top male celebrity is the nation’s favourite tweeter, Stephen Fry with 20% of votes. The two people we think would be tedious to be with are dull as ditchwater Sienna Miller and Adrian Chiles!
Freixenet Ambassador, Strictly’s Champion, Camilla Dallerup commented: “Why not spread some fun and spontaneity, make any occasion special and treat yourself? Open a bottle of Freixenet Cava and add a little glamour and sparkle!”
The Freixenet Survey is based on an Opinum national online poll, carried out 21st-22nd September ‘09. Results have been weighted to nationally representative criteria.
