LONDON - “As designers we must see the current financial challenges and increasing
scrutiny of public spending as an opportunity to demonstrate our ability to
deliver truly affordable and sustainable spaces for learning and research. It
is therefore invaluable to bring together leading experts in the field at
conferences such as Designing and Constructing Colleges and Universities to
gather practical advice and skills.” Colin Moses, Global Design Director of
RMJM’s Global Education Studio.
Building’s Designing & Constructing Colleges and Universities, on 30th
March 2009 in London will highlight opportunities arising in the higher and
further education sector and how to win work amidst the intense competition
for projects.
Speakers from Imperial College London, Sheffield University, RMJM, King’s
College London and the AUDE have already confirmed participation amongst many
others.
The plenary sessions will cover the upcoming prospects within the LSC
framework and the capital build project, navigation of the bid and
procurement process and insight into changing learning environments. The
afternoon will be streamed to accommodate the unique needs of both our design
and construction delegates separately. For architecture delegates we will be
incorporating topics such as designing energy efficient buildings and
exceeding design quality standards in refurbishment and for our construction
attendees we will cover topics such as reducing time onsite with innovative
construction techniques and managing a design and build partnership from
start to finish.
The event also includes a post-conference workshop on 31st March 2009 on
breaking into the further and higher education market specifically aimed at
newcomers to this sector.
