Green Mountain Power (www.greenmountainpower.com/) , a Vermont electric utility recognized for leadership and innovation, has selected a broad footprint of Oracle applications and technology solutions to enhance customer service, streamline billing processes, integrate work processes and support smart grid initiatives.
The utility, which is updating its enterprise architecture and technology infrastructure as part of a broader business transformation to enhance operational efficiency, will implement Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing (www.oracle.com/us/industries/utilities/046909.html) , Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management (www.oracle.com/us/industries/utilities/046897.html) , Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management (www.oracle.com/us/industries/utilities/046894.html) , Oracle Business Intelligence for Utilities (www.oracle.com/us/industries/utilities/046918.html) , Oracle Utilities Work and Asset Management (www.oracle.com/us/industries/utilities/046874.html) , Oracle Utilities Network Management System (www.oracle.com/us/industries/utilities/046890.html) , Oracle WebCenter Suite (www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/overview/index.html) , Oracle Fusion Middleware (www.oracle.com/us/products/middleware/index.html) and Oracle Service Bus (www.oracle.com/us/technologies/soa/service-bus/index.html) . Upon receiving $19.2 million of Federal funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Green Mountain Power chose the Oracle solutions as the foundation to drive its smart grid goals forward. The utility hopes to establish an improved enterprise information management infrastructure in order to deliver more timely information to customers to help them understand and manage their electricity consumption.
As part of the four-pronged initial phase of the project, which began in late-2010, Green Mountain Power has begun implementing Oracle Utilities Customer Care & Billing (CC&B), Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management, Oracle WebCenter Suite for Advanced Web Self-Service and Oracle Service Bus through an Oracle Fusion SOA deployment to provide a centralized system to support smart grid and green initiatives by connecting advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) usage data and presentment tools, so consumers can view their usage.
Green Mountain Power was named a finalist (www.easyir.com/easyir/prssrel.do?easyirid=B171E2284127BC0E&version=live&prid=671937&releasejsp=release_13) in the Platts 2010 Global Energy Awards in the “Green Energy Initiative” category for its innovative work in solar and wind.
