After two years of its expedition around the globe, the PANGAEA sailboat
of South African adventurer Mike Horn has moored in Shanghai. Therewith,
together with his main sponsor Mercedes-Benz, Mike Horn celebrated the
halfway point of his four-year environmental expedition. From 2008 to 2012,
the exploratory trip covers all continents and climate zones, as well as all
the world's oceans, pursuing the objective of raising awareness of the
planet's beauty among people around the world, in view of promoting active
participation in environmental protection. "We have already achieved a great
deal more than we have hoped for. More and more people are inspired through
our project and are committing themselves to the protection of the
environment. This is only the beginning!" said Mike Horn.

In the middle of the Chinese metropolis, the boat docked on the shore of
the Huangpu. A very special experience for the crew, since - according to
local authorities - it was the first time that a foreign ship has hoisted its
sails over the Chinese river. The review on the first half of the expedition
is very positive: The idea of PANGAEA expedition to inspire young people
around the globe for active environmental protection has already been
implemented with numerous ecological and social projects worldwide.
