Inaugural MIA UK / Europe Chapter Launch

By Migration Institute Of Australia, PRNE

SYDNEY, July 5, 2010 - The Migration Institute of Australia (MIA) is delighted to announce the
formation of a dedicated UK / Europe Members' Chapter, to be launched along
with an inaugural Meeting of Members Tuesday 6 July 2010 in the Downer Room
of London's historic Australia House on the Strand.

The Migration Institute is the peak body for Australian migration advice
professionals, representing the majority of Registered Migration Agents
(RMAs) worldwide.

Greater than a third of all MIA Member clients hail from the UK and
Europe and more than 70 RMAs permanently reside or maintain offices in the
region, making it the ideal first overseas representative body for the
Institute.

As registration statutes apply only to onshore Australia migration
agents, the 70-plus RMAs and MIA Members who make their living in the UK and
Europe go above and beyond their legal requirements, ascribing to both the
Australian Government's Code of Conduct and also to the MIA's in-house Code
of Ethics.

"These dedicated professions play an essential role in Australia's
migration program," said MIA CEO Maurene Horder, in London for the launch.
"We've long aspired to set up a Chapter for these terrific agents."

Following a meeting to discuss the Institute and its future directions
and issues affecting agents and their clients, the inaugural MIA UK / Europe
Chapter will be created with the appointment of a Secretary and a supporting
Committee of Members from 5:30 pm (GMT) Tuesday 6 July 2010.

Former Australia Minister for the Environment and Officer of the Order of
Australia (AO), the Honourable Ros Kelly MP, will be on hand to launch the
Chapter.

ABOUT THE MIA

Serving as a conduit for official and ad hoc communication between
Government and agents, the MIA also administers high-level Continuing
Professional Development (CPD) courses and holds its Members to the statutory
Code of Conduct alongside a rigorous in-house Code of Ethics.

The Institute is administered by a National Office in Sydney and governed
by a Member Board, five elected State / Territory Committees and a special
Chapter in the National Capital. Aiming to help Members deliver the highest
level of services to clients, the Institute's vision is for a society in
which migration is valued and the professionalism of MIA migration advisers
is recognised by all stakeholders.

"Migration Law is becoming increasingly complex and fraught, with a near
constant flow of legislative and regulatory changes handed down by the
Australian Federal Government," said Horder. "These changes require
committed, qualified migration advice professionals."

If you are planning to travel, work, study or live in Australia, consider
using a Registered Migration Agent (RMA) with current MIA Membership. More
information on the MIA is available online at www.mia.org.au.
