SAN FRANCISCO - INgrooves, a leading provider of digital distribution, marketing and promotion services to the independent music community, has expanded its roster of top independent labels further with the additions of Telarc and Heads Up International, divisions of Concord Music Group, for territories worldwide excluding the United States and Canada. The announcement was made today by Robb McDaniels, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of INgrooves, and Mark Wexler, Senior Vice-President at Concord Music Group.
“Telarc and Heads Up have amassed an impressive slew of Grammy awards and are well regarded as two of the leading independent classical and jazz labels,” stated McDaniels. “We are very excited to both broaden the labels’ reach to their core audience, as well as expand their presence among digital music fans.”
Wexler said, “We are pleased to have aligned with INgrooves to digitally distribute, market and promote our releases. They will provide an avenue for consumers to explore our wonderful catalog that has been underutilized in the digital format in the past.”
Founded in 1970, Telarc International is home to some of the most prestigious classical music artists and orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and many others. Later, the label expanded its scope to include Jazz, Blues and Pop, winning 55 GRAMMY(R) Awards in the process.
The Telarc and Heads Up catalog ranges from such jazz icons as Dave Brubeck, Michael Brecker, George Duke, Joe Zawinul, Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner and Stanley Clarke to blues legends like Taj Mahal, Junior Wells, Pinetop Perkins and Tab Benoit. The roster also features contemporary jazz artists like Candy Dulfer, Victor Wooten, Fourplay, Marcus Miller, Spyro Gyra, Yellowjackets, Hiroshima and Najee, as well as world and pop stars including Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba and Zap Mama. Current featured artists include bassist/singer Esperanza Spalding, pianist Hiromi, a cappella group Take 6, guitarist Mike Stern, organist Cameron Carpenter and pianist Simone Dinnerstein.
