On WISeKey's Initiative, the Valencia Region Transforms Itself Into the Technological Hub of Mediterranean

GENEVA and VALENCIA, Spain, February 22, 2010 - Inspired by WISeKey SA, leader in internet security and digital
identification, the Valencia Government has set the scene to transform the
Region into the technological hub of Mediterranean. This to purpose of this
<<hub>> is to promote the local development on economic, cultural, social and
environmental levels to achieve an international status through the local
know-how of the Technology Institutes. Supported financially by the key
players in the Private Sector of Switzerland, Brazil, the United States and
Spain, in cooperation with the Spanish Public Sector, this technological
epicenter will not only accelerate the cycle-time to market of new ideas, but
also the time to develop the innovative, security, finance, education and
health values of this Region.

The future hub will combine physical infrastructures - notably those of
the port of Valencia that have already proven their worth in two America's
Cups as well as in several Formula 1 competitions-, with those of a flexible
working environment provided by high tech resources.

Citizen's Key

Particularly aware this unique economic challenge for the Region, the
Valencia authorities have already adopted the concept of a Citizen's Key as
developed by WISeKey SA. This USB biometric Key with digital identification,
made freely available to all Valencia's citizens, will allow access simply
and totally securely to online services made available by regional partners
such as: the Government, banks, unemployment office, citizen protection,
social networks, cultural life, events, etc. Special services for particular
sectors of the population (children, women, seniors citizen) are currently
being studied.
