Network Optimization Solution Reduces Capital Expenses and Streamlines Ongoing Operational Costs

To enable network operators to effectively plan and optimize their next-generation networks (NGNs), Oracle today announced the availability of Oracle Communications Network Intelligence 3.4 (www.oracle.com/us/industries/communications/046836.html) .
Data traffic across NGNs is growing rapidly and is increasingly dynamic with the proliferation of mobile broadband services. This creates greater challenges for network operators working to ensure a problem-free service experience for existing customers and sufficient network capacity for new or upgrading customers.
Oracle Communications Network Intelligence 3.4 enables the forecasting, analysis and planning of heterogeneous NGNs using pre-built modeling packs for key technologies including Long Term Evolution (LTE), Ethernet, Internet Protocol/Multi-Protocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS), Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) / Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET), Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy (PDH), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and Frame Relay (FR).
Release 3.4 introduces constraint-based analysis and network traffic routing by using policies to specify constraints – including resource allocation and consumption rules – to provide network operators with greater control and flexibility as they plan their network traffic.
The application also provides a service-driven approach to better translate customer service forecasts into network capacity requirements – enabling network operators to efficiently plan complex consumer and enterprise services while reducing network capacity costs, mitigating operational risk and optimizing future network investments.
The new release supports several key scenarios including network-wide planning of mobile backhaul (including LTE), consumer broadband services, optimal planning of Label Switched Paths (LSP) sets, as well as full node and link failover analysis in an IP/MPLS core network.
