Oracle announced the general availability of Oracle Communications IP Service Activator Release 7.0 (www.oracle.com/us/industries/communications/communications-ip-service-activator-396463.html) , a key component in Oracle’s Converged Fulfillment for Business Services solution (www.oracle.com/us/industries/communications/046832.html) .
Deployed by many of the world’s leading communications service providers (CSPs), Oracle’s Converged Fulfillment for Business Services solution enables CSPs to rapidly create, launch and fulfill highly-differentiated, converged business services including connectivity, data, voice, video and Cloud services.
With its unique, multivendor, policy-based activation approach, Oracle Communications IP Service Activator abstracts service and vendor complexity to simplify the provisioning of complex IP and Ethernet connectivity services, such as IP MPLS layer 2 and layer 3 VPNs, Ethernet VLANs and QoS.
Release 7.0’s platform support for both IPv4 and IPv6 enables service providers to introduce new IPv6 business service offerings while simultaneously managing the operational complexities of a dual IPv4–IPv6 environment.
Oracle Communications IP Service Activator 7.0 offers expanded, out-of-the-box IP and Ethernet provisioning support for multiple vendors – including Cisco IOS, IOS-XR and CatOS, Juniper JUNOS, Huawei VRP and Alcatel 5620 SAM – complemented by an extensible Cartridge Software Development Kit that enables service providers to flexibly adapt support as their business requirements evolve.
Release 7.0 supports the latest Oracle technologies, including Oracle Solaris 10 (www.oracle.com/us/products/servers-storage/solaris/index.html) , Oracle Linux 5 (www.oracle.com/us/technologies/linux/index.html) with Oracle VM Server for x86 (www.oracle.com/us/technologies/virtualization/oraclevm/index.html) , Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition (www.oracle.com/us/products/database/enterprise-edition/index.html) and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) 11g (www.oracle.com/us/products/database/options/real-application-clusters/index.html) , which provide CSPs significant improvements in performance, resiliency and scalability as well as flexible, low-cost deployment options.

“Service providers struggle to streamline and automate the delivery of IP and Ethernet data services in a complex, multivendor network that is undergoing continuous technology refreshes such as upgrading to IPv6. Oracle Communications IP Service Activator 7.0 leverages an intelligent vendor and technology-agnostic service model to minimize this complexity, enabling service providers to focus on key business requirements such as the creation and rapid delivery of differentiated offers,” said Liam Maxwell, vice president of products, Oracle Communications.
