Saks Fifth Avenue Launches New Third Floor With Charlize Theron and Designer Guests

WHO: Charlize Theron, VOGUE magazine and Saks Fifth Avenue’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steve Sadove host the launch of the New York Flagship’s Designer Floor. Designer guests include: Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Zac Posen, Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman, Proenza Schouler’s Lazaro Hernandez & Jack McCollough, Christian Siriano, Derek Lam and Vera Wang. WHAT: After a year-long renovation, Saks Fifth Avenue’s New York Flagship celebrates the unveiling of the new designer floor, home to 49 of the world’s finest designer collections. A cocktail reception and dinner on September 9 will serve as the floor’s official debut. After a year-long renovation, the 50,000 square-foot space will house 23 designer shops, the only leased department in the U.S. to feature the complete collection of Louis Vuitton, and a new Fifth Avenue Club - the private shopping environment with spectacular views overlooking Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. During the unveiling, Saks Fifth Avenue will showcase 32 one-of-a-kind cocktail dresses created exclusively for the launch by some of the floor’s renowned designers such as Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Vera Wang, DIOR, Zac Posen, Oscar de la Renta, Jil Sander, Chloe and many more. The decor on the new floor features work from many world-famous women designers including artist Michele Oka Doner, Architect Zaha Hadid, Parisian designer India Mahdavi, Artisan Stephanie Odegard as well as Sidonie Villere, Linda Stojak and Kathy Moss who also contributed artwork. Other highlights of the new designer floor include luminous onyx walls and a Swarovski installation.
