Skyguard Launches Real Time Emergency Response Service for Mobile Phones

LONDON - Skyguard has launched an unparalleled real time emergency response
service on mobiles, for lone workers and individuals at risk. The service
utilises GPS technology within the mobile, in the same way as Google’s
recently launched Latitude product, but is crucially different in that when
the user raises an alarm, it connects to Skyguard’s 24/7 Incident Management
Centre. Trained controllers can see the user’s exact location and identify
who they are, from information previously entered on a secure web page. The
controllers will listen and talk, if it’s safe to do so, managing the
incident and ensuring the appropriate response services are despatched to
exactly where they are required. The software is downloadable from Skyguard’s
website and competitively priced at only GBP12 per month.

“At Skyguard we know that when a customer presses a button to request
help, that moment is critical to them. We have therefore used all our
resources to ensure that the service we offer at that moment is the best in
the industry: people’s lives depend on it,” says David Ince, Chief Executive
of Skyguard. “With our subscription pricing, customers can benefit from our
unrivalled service for a minimal monthly fee and no capital outlay.”

About Skyguard Technologies Limited

Based in Surrey, Skyguard was established in 2000 to provide the UK’s
premier backup and assistance service for lone workers and anyone at risk.
Three years’ market research and technology design (to source the right
devices and develop the best software) was followed by over GBP3 million
invested in setting-up the service infrastructure. Extensive field trials
with the Police and other organisations followed in 2006. The result is
Skyguard’s 24 hour monitoring and response service which deals with life
threatening incidents, and is used and trusted by the Police.

The company is chaired by Lord Dear, the highly respected former Chief
Constable of the West Midlands Police, who is active in crime and justice
issues in the House of Lords.

Mobile Phone Software

The GPS functionality of the mobile phone, allows Skyguard’s Incident
Management Centre staff to accurately locate end users when the alarm call is
raised. A two-way voice channel is opened so that Skyguard staff can listen
to incidents as they unfold and talk to the user if it’s safe to do so, thus
helping them better assess and react to the emergency. All sound is recorded,
meaning that information about the incident can be used as evidence should
the incident lead to prosecution.

The purpose built software is downloadable and currently compatible with
Windows Mobile version 5, 6 and 6.1, and will shortly be available on Symbian
Series 60 and Blackberry platforms.

Incident Management Centre

Skyguard’s purpose built 24/7 Incident Management Centre is staffed by
professionals who have been carefully selected and trained to deal with
stressful or violent situations. Skyguard’s purpose built software means they
have real-time information on hand, enabling them to see whatever information
a user has entered securely into the system. This may include relevant
information such as medical history, job, location, and backup preferences -
all of which helps them to assess the incident quickly.

National Response Service

Skyguard’s nationwide mobile response service personnel are all tutored
to diffuse potentially explosive situations, police checked, screened to
BS7858, members of the Security Industry Authority, and trained to be a
calming influence in dangerous or distressing situations.
