Andreas John, 39, has been working for Swissgrid as project manager of
TSO Switzerland since February 2007. In July 2008 he took over as Head of

reliable and cost-effective operation of the Swiss high-voltage grid. With a
length of 6,700 kilometers, the grid connects power plants to the supply
regions within Switzerland. It also acts as an <<electricity superhighway>>,
transporting energy to and from Europe, as well as a platform for electricity
trading in the Europe-wide liberalised electricity market.
