LONDON, September 30, 2010 - The International Data Centre Group (IDC-G), the first global
data centre alliance, announces today that two leading data centre operators,
Teraco Data Environments Pty of South Africa and LCL of Belgium have joined
its alliance network.
The London-based IDC-G alliance network is a unique concept,
being the first partnership of data centre operators around the world under a
strong, unified brand, providing international businesses with a centralised
point-of-contact for their bespoke data centre needs. The handpicked members
of the IDC-G alliance are carrier-neutral and among the preeminent players in
their respective national markets.
Announcing the agreement, Guy Willner, IDC-G Executive
Chairman, said, "I'm delighted to welcome Teraco and LCL as members of our
growing partnership. We are committed to ensuring that clients get access to
premium quality data centre services in emerging technology markets and new
economies and our two new partners reflect this aim. Our assurance of quality
is backed by strict membership criteria that include a commitment from data
centre providers to obtain ISO quality accreditation. We are excited by the
enormous potential of bringing together independent data centre operators as
one global group and hope to rapidly see some concrete developments in terms
of commercial success for our members."
"We see this partnership as a way to reach more multinational
companies head quartered outside of Africa. Also, our membership will further
increase our access to the top expertise globally in data centres," commented
Lex van Wyk, managing director of Teraco. Laurens Van Reijen, founder and
Managing Director at LCL expressed his satisfaction with the agreement
saying, "It is the first of many steps with IDC-G. Through IDC-G we believe
we are well-placed to harness the growing global interest in the Belgian
market."
