AMSTERDAM, January 14 - On 26 January 2010 at the Royal Flemish Theatre www.kvs.be in
Brussels, the Routes Award will be presented to international theatre-maker
Stefan Kaegi, who is also known for being cofounder of the theatre-ensemble
Rimini Protokol www.rimini-protokoll.de/website/en/index.php, and to
Borka Pavicevic who as a cultural activist and founder of Belgrade's Centre
for Cultural Decontamination (1995) www.czkd.org/aktuelno.php?lang=en
has long played a key cultural role in a troubled region.

During the festive ceremony, each will receive a prize of EUR25,000 from
Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands. Her Royal Highness
Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands will also be present at the ceremonies
fulfilling her role as the current President of the European Cultural
Foundation (ECF). There will also be hundreds of international guests from
the worlds of culture, art and politics.

The ECF, which for the last 50 years has successfully worked on cultural
cooperation in Europe, established the Routes Award in 2008. They believe
that for the future of Europe, thinkers and artists should be honoured and
recognised by a larger public for their work reflecting the importance of
culture and diversity in our society.

For the publisher: The Routes Princess Margriet Award for Cultural
Diversity was established in 2008 as tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess
Margriet of the Netherlands. For over 24 years, she acted as chairperson of
the ECF. The Routes Award is an initiative of the European Cultural
Foundation (ECF) in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture
and Science and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is made possible by the
generous support of ACLEU (Association of Charity Lotteries) and the Rabobank
Foundation. For more information see: routesaward.eurocult.org
