HOUSTON, Texas, February 26, 2010 - Independent industry research published by analysts Gartner awards Trade
Extensions the highest mark possible - 5.0 - for 'optimization' in its 2010
Magic Quadrant report on Strategic Sourcing Suites. The research surveyed all
the major strategic sourcing suites and, significantly, Trade Extensions is
the only company to achieve the maximum score in this key category.
In addition to being the only company scoring five for optimization,
Trade Extensions is ranked in the highest category - 'Best in Class' - for
the associated areas of RFP Creation; RFP Response and Bid Evaluation. The
Overall Product Rating for Strategic Sourcing is also ranked as 'Best in
Class'.
Optimization has been described as 'Instant ROI. Guaranteed[1]' and it is
playing a more significant role in strategic sourcing by helping
organisations match sourcing strategy to overall business strategy. It is the
only way to identify the optimum combination of goods and suppliers from the
millions of possibilities generated during a typical large-scale sourcing
project and it allows organisations to reduce costs without compromising
quality. While strategic sourcing objectives tend not to be purely financial,
cost reductions of 10% are common and savings are often greater. Optimization
is a simple concept but the amount and complexity of the data collected
during sourcing events means some methods of optimization are more effective
than others - as highlighted by the Gartner report.
Trade Extensions CEO, Garry Mansell said, "Organisations are achieving
better results using optimization and it is becoming an integral part of
sourcing. Gartner's research shows we offer the best optimization on the
market and that it is a testament to the skills of our development team."
Trade Extensions pioneered the commercial application of optimization and
combinatorial auctions in the early 2000s after being founded by a team of
academics in Uppsala University, Sweden.
Trade Extensions, President and founder, Arne Andersson said, "We know
from a purely mathematical perspective that optimization works but now
companies and organisations are seeing the practical results - and they like
the effect it has on their operations as well as their balance sheet."
