LONDON - Warner Bros. Pictures UK today announces that it will be releasing Nick Love’s latest movie THE FIRM in a joint venture with Vertigo Films.
Set for release in the UK and Ireland on 25th September 2009, THE FIRM, written and directed by Love, is loosely adapted from Alan Clarke’s classic 1989 drama of the same name. Telling the story of Dom (Calum McNab), a young man with no direction in life who is entranced by violent football hooligan Bex (Paul Anderson), THE FIRM is a coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of 1980s England.
Josh Berger, President and Managing Director, Warner Bros. Entertainment. UK remarked: “We’re delighted to be working with such a talent as British writer and director, Nick Love. THE FIRM is a gritty and thrilling movie that will enrich our 2009 slate and excite audiences when it opens in cinemas in September.”
Nick Love added: “As an independent film-maker, teaming up with a major studio like Warner Bros ensures a really strong position in the marketplace, so I’m absolutely thrilled to be partnering with them on this release.”
Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales and deals have already been closed in Germany (Ascot Elite) and the Middle East (Front Row).
