Raise Money and, Better Still, Raise it Doing Something We All Enjoy - Eating Cakes!
LONDON, February 9 - Cakes For Haiti is the brain child of Janet Mohapi-Banks, a cake designer
from Epsom, Surrey. The devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12th
happened on her fortieth birthday and she was instantly compelled to do
something to help. After speaking to friends who also wanted to do something
other than just give money, she decided to organise a fundraising event
everyone could get involved in. As a professional cake designer the first
thing that came into her mind was cake, and so Cakes For Haiti was born…
It's a recipe for success: easily organised and easily carried out.
Anyone can bake or buy a cake and everyone can eat them!
Schools, universities, companies, organisations or just individuals in
the community can organise a cake sale and raise money that goes straight to
the DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal. There's a website full of advice -
www.cakesforhaiti.org - where posters can be downloaded to publicise
the cake sale and register the event. Then just get people to turn up on
March 26th and bring or buy a cake!
Cakes For Haiti is the ultimate feel good occasion - everyone likes to
help a charity and everyone likes to eat cake! So now you've bought the
record why not bake the cake…
