Businesses Reduce Carbon Output
LONDON, February 28, 2011 - Approximately 8.7bn metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e)
were traded in 2010 according to the World Bank, while carbon markets
estimated to be worth $144bn in the same year.
Despite the huge figures involved, carbon trading is still very much in
its infancy, some environmentally-minded and well-prepared businesses have
already established themselves ahead of the pack. The World Finance Carbon
Market awards pay homage to companies pioneering methodologies and making the
investments required to achieve the significant reduction in carbon output
that is demanded to safeguard the future of the environment.
