Peter Moll and Brian Wallach Join Partnership; Bring Team of Trial Practice Associates
WASHINGTON, March 17, 2011 - Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a leading counselor to global
financial institutions and corporations, today announced that Peter Moll and
Brian Wallach, two renowned antitrust trial attorneys, have joined the
Partnership. Moll and Wallach, formerly with Howrey, LLP., will reside in
Cadwalader's D.C. Office. They are joined by three Associates, Gregory
Langsdale, Jessica Thompson and Elizabeth Wright.
"We are delighted that Peter and Brian, together with a group of
outstanding associates, will be joining our firm. They are stand-out
litigators who bring extraordinary talent and passion to our antitrust
practice. We welcome them to the Partnership," said W. Christopher White,
Chairman of the Firm.
Peter has tried numerous complex commercial cases in federal and state
courts nationwide. He has litigated antitrust and other claims covering a
broad spectrum of legal areas, including price-fixing, vertical restraints,
monopolization, unfair and deceptive trade practices, mergers, patents,
distributor terminations and many constitutional challenges.
Brian Wallach has litigated some of the largest commercial and antitrust
cases to be tried in state and federal courts over the last ten years. These
cases have concerned the full spectrum of antitrust issues. In addition,
Brian has substantial experience representing clients in connection with
class action litigation, theft of trade secrets, civil RICO and fraud,
business torts, distributor terminations, trademarks, false advertising,
defamation and contract disputes.
Peter and Brian represent numerous major corporations, including Anheuser
Busch/InBev, Nestle and First Data Corporation. Peter has argued appeals
before nearly every U.S. Court of Appeals including the Federal Circuit.
"As we contemplated our steps, we felt that it was critically important
to find the right home that offered an environment where we could best serve
our clients and control our own destiny," stated Moll. "Cadwalader's
antitrust practice, led by Rick Rule, former head of the Justice Department's
Antitrust Division, is outstanding. The more we did our homework, the more
Cadwalader became the only choice for our practice," he said.
"Cadwalader gives us the depth to field the highest quality antitrust
litigation team in the industry today. We look forward to this great
opportunity and to work with a very talented group of great attorneys. We are
excited to be joining the Firm," said Wallach.
Peter graduated in 1971 from Boston College and in 1975 from Boston
College Law School. He received both degrees Summa cum laude and was Order of
the Coif in law school. He is admitted to the District of Columbia,
Massachusetts and New Jersey bars. He has written and lectured extensively on
a wide range of litigation topics, including the use of technology and
multimedia in the courtroom to gain a competitive edge.
Brian graduated in 1986 from Emory University with honors and in 1989
from Georgetown University Law Center cum laude. He is admitted to the
District of Columbia and New York bars. He has appeared on a number of panels
on a variety of litigation issues, and has also been active in pro bono
matters, including the representation of senior-assisted group houses in a
five-day bench in a case involving violation of restrictive covenants.
"We are pleased to welcome Peter, Brian, Greg, Jessica and Elizabeth to
the D.C. Office and to the antitrust group," stated Rick Rule, head of the
antitrust practice and member of Cadwalader's Management Committee. Peter and
Brian's extensive trial experience in some of the highest-profile antitrust
matters sets them apart from their peers in the antitrust bar. We consider
ourselves to be extremely fortunate to have attracted two of the best
antitrust litigators in the country to Cadwalader. They are a fantastic
complement to our already strong antitrust practice. We look forward to
working with them to provide premiere, full-service antitrust representation
to current and future clients."
