Chemicals and Energy Specialist ICIS Appoints Neil Fleming to Head Editorial Group
By Icis, PRNETuesday, June 15, 2010
LONDON, June 16, 2010 - Global petrochemicals and energy information provider ICIS has appointed
energy publishing expert Neil Fleming to head its editorial operations, the
company announced on Monday.
Fleming, who will act as Head of Content across all ICIS businesses, is
the former editorial vice-president of oil, gas, power and metals information
business Platts - a role which he held from 1997 to 2002, when he resigned to
launch a second career managing a theatre production company. He worked
simultaneously thereafter as Platts' vice-president of strategy and business
development until 2008. More recently, Fleming has developed a reputation as
an independent energy data and publishing strategy consultant for clients
including African downstream consulting specialists CITAC LLP; the Norwegian
energy ministry; Espresso Education Ltd and ICIS itself.
Prior to running Platts' information group, he worked as a news
journalist and editorial manager in the UK, east Africa, southern Africa, and
the Middle East and was 1995 winner of the coveted International Association
of Energy Economists award for Excellence in Written Journalism.
'Neil's experience in creating must-have information products for
commodities markets is second to none,' said Christopher Flook, Publishing
Director for the ICIS group. 'He has very extensive experience of benchmark
price design, market design, and the production of high-quality analysis and
news. And he combines this with an unrivalled track record in new product
development and editorial management. We are very pleased to have him on
board.'
Fleming's first contribution to ICIS' business has been the launch this
month of LNG Markets Daily, a definitive overview of the rapidly developing
global liquefied natural gas market, featuring proprietary pricing models
developed by Fleming and experts at ICIS Heren.
Among his career achievements, Fleming spearheaded the development of
Platts' real-time news services and led the team which transitioned these
products to multi-platform distribution on Reuters, Bloomberg and Dow Jones;
he was instrumental in the acquisition and subsequent management of the FT
Energy group from Pearson; oversaw Platts' diversification into European
natural gas and electricity markets; launched the group's energy derivatives
information business; and presided over the creation of the
Brent-Forties-Oseberg-Ekofisk pricing mechanism that is now the standard in
global crude oil markets pricing. Most recently, he was the architect and
lead developer of the award-winning CITAC Africa Downstream Database for the
sub-Saharan African oil refining industry.
ICIS, part of the Reed Business Information group, is the world's leading
provider of market pricing, analysis and news to the petrochemicals,
fertilizer and specialty chemicals industries. Through its ICIS Heren
division it is also a provider of choice for much of the natural gas and
electricity trading sector in Europe, and across the global liquefied natural
gas markets.
