Christian M. Spaulding, M.D., Ph.D. to Join Cordis Corporation

WATERLOO, Belgium, April 6, 2010 - Cordis Corporation announced that Christian M. Spaulding, M.D., Ph.D.,
FESC, FACC, has been named as Worldwide Vice President of Medical Affairs. In
this role, he will be a key leader of the company's medical team, responsible
for leading the company's global clinical strategy. Dr. Spaulding will assume
the role on June 1, and will be based in Paris.

Global Head R&D. "He brings a wealth of experience both in the cardiac
catheterization laboratory and in clinical research. His passion for teaching

ensure our clinical strategies are aligned with patient and physician needs."

Dr. Spaulding is Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at
Cochin Hospital and professor of medicine at Rene Descartes University, both
located in Paris, France. He is a fellow of the European Society of
Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Spaulding received his
diplomas from the Rene Descartes University with a Doctorate in medical
sciences in 1988, a specialization in cardiology in 1989, a Masters degree in
biological sciences in 1991, and a PhD in clinical research in 1998. He
received training as a visiting resident at the Montreal Heart Institute in
Canada in 1988 and as senior resident in coronary angiography and angioplasty
at the Clinique Pasteur, in Toulouse France in 1989. He has published over
100 papers in peer reviewed journals, and served as principal investigator in
numerous international trials of novel devices and methods of treatment.
