LONDON, September 20, 2011 -

City IT firm Certeco made a splash in more ways than one at the weekend.

Certeco, which offers specialist IT planning and consultancy to financial companies, entered the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 a day after two staff teams competed in London’s River Marathon, the Great River Race.

Chairman Adam Ripley, who took part in the race, said: ‘Amazingly the news on Sunday gave us an even bigger splash than the Great River Race in which we all got very wet, rowing into horizontal rain for 22miles. To be honest, conditions have just been as tough in the City recently and our successful ranking just proves good teamwork brings success whatever the conditions.  We will certainly keep paddling!’

Certeco, which raised more than £5000 for three charities in the race, came 12th in the Sunday Times league table which ranks Britain’s 100 private tech companies with the fastest-growing sales over the last three years.

The firm, which counts 12 of the largest financial services organisations among its clients, launched in October 2009 with eight members of staff. It now has offices in London, Ipswich and Edinburgh and has a workforce of over 100.

Twenty-two Certeco staff members rowed in the Great River Race raising money for the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), the British Heart Foundation, Women’s Aid.

Certeco has pledged to raise money for MAG, which clears landmines out of former and current conflict zones, for the next five years.

Sarah Tavener, MAG Trusts and Foundations Officer, says: ‘We’re looking forward to working with Certeco over the next five years on lots of exciting challenges, starting with the Great River Race.

‘As well as having lots of fun, participants are helping MAG improve the lives of some of the world’s poorest communities who are struggling to recover from the effects of conflict.’
