LOS ANGELES, September 20, 2011 -

MTV and EXTREME MUSIC’S FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND EMERGING MUSIC LICENSING PARTNERSHIP INTRODUCES ITS ROSTER OF THE HOTTEST INDEPENDENT TALENT TO THE UK AT THE INDUSTRY’S MOST HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SHOWCASE

MTV, a division of Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA and VIA.B), and Extreme Music, the production music arm of Sony/ATV, have announced their second in a series of international launch events of Hype Music (www.hypemusic.com) with an extremely rare VIP-guest-only showcase gig at London’s historic Abbey Road Studios on September 27th.  The industry-quaking, pre-cleared music licensing partnership will showcase bands from its taste-making roster with live performances by WALLPAPER, SPECIAL K’S, STEALING SIGNS, LEGO JOHNSON and THE NICK TREE BAND.

“Along with MTV, we’ve created an unstoppable talent-incubating freight train,” says Russell Emanuel, CEO and Evil Genius behind Extreme Music.  ”We can’t wait to showcase our extraordinary roster to London’s professional music users and, at the same time, give them a golden ticket glimpse inside the Mecca of recording studios.”

Hype Music’s rigorous selection process and a no submission policy, means all artists introduced through the partnership will be discovered by the Hype team, overseen by “America’s most influential DJ” Nic Harcourt.  Once signed, all acts receive a seal of approval from music insiders including reviews and opinions by Harcourt along with an A-list lineup of the industry’s music supervision elite.  Hype artists receive first-look consideration for placement in MTV shows, exposure to Extreme’s global client base of professional users and music distribution through MTV.

“To have a one-night-only MTV and Extreme event within the historic Abbey Road Studios is an incredible opportunity for HYPE,” said Joe Cuello SVP, Creative Music Integration for MTV.  ”MTV is honored to be a part of these emerging artists’ stories and this night will be an unforgettable piece of those narratives.”

Included in the lineup for the Hype Music launch party at Abbey Road Studios will be Wallpaper, whose beat-heavy party pop has made them MTV’s mega-hit series Jersey Shore’s featured artist.  The group was also hand-picked for the MTV “PUSH” campaign and will appear on an upcoming episode of MTV’s The Real World: San Diego.
