World's Leading IP Management Company Not Implicated in Wave of Legal Action
ST HELIER, Jersey, July 6, 2010 - CPA Global, the world's leading intellectual property
management and legal services outsourcing company, has assured its clients
that use of its services will not involve them in the patent infringement
suits being filed by WhitServe LLC. Whilst CPA Global regrets the
difficulties this litigation may cause, it has confirmed that its clients are
protected under a licence agreement that CPA Global concluded with WhitServe
in August 2006.
WhitServe, which owns several patents relating to the delivery
of professional services over the internet, was recently awarded more than
US$8 million in damages to be paid by another IP management services
provider. WhitServe has now filed a suit for patent infringement against a
number of that provider's clients.
In the wake of increasing publicity and market comment about
the WhitServe suits, CPA Global is reassuring its clients that use of its
services will not expose them to such litigation.
CPA Global's Chief Executive Officer Peter Sewell commented:
"We take risk management very seriously and value the trust that our clients
place in us. In order to ensure our ability to protect our clients' IP
assets, we acquired a worldwide licence covering all the relevant WhitServe
patents. Therefore, none of our clients need be concerned about: our ability
to continue performing IP renewal services for them; the cost of defending
themselves against a lawsuit for infringement; or the threat of financial
penalties resulting from such a law suit."
