LONDON, November 23 - Cyber Monday, the first Monday after the last weekend of November, marks
peak season for online retailers in the UK. This year, Cyber Monday falls on
30 November. Originally coined in the United States by the National Retail
Federation, Cyber Monday has become a UK shopping phenomenon as online sales
peak on Mondays two or three weeks before Christmas. Shoppers spend the
weekends browsing and buying in stores and upon returning to the office on
Monday, turn to the Internet to start shopping for better prices and items
they could not find in stock. Moreover, many online retailers report that
peak online sales occur during the hours of 1200-1400 GMT, during lunch
break.

This year, the recession and prices have affected consumer spending and
confidence. As a result, shoppers will browse around to get the best deals
and shop early to ensure free guaranteed Christmas delivery. Presents
including books, perfumes, CDs and toys are typically at least 15 percent
cheaper from online retailers than high street shops. eCommerce continues to
grow - the Centre for Retail Research projects that online retail sales will
increase 24 percent during the peak weeks of Christmas trading.

To assist online shoppers, CyberMonday.co.uk is aggregating online
retailer's Christmas promotions, free delivery information and money saving
voucher codes. Current deals include:

    - Zavvi.com Mega Monday - Great Offers Every Monday for 24 hrs.
    - Tesco.com - A free 15 GBP eCoupon for Tesco direct when you
purchase an iPod nano, classic, touch or shuffle. Plus Double Clubcard
      points.
    - M & S - Penny Delivery.
    - Play.com - 5 off 50 GBP Voucher Code and 10% off all clothing.
