Digital Cinema Integrator Digital Darwin Will Handle the Digital Projections of the 66th Venice International Film Festival (2-12 Sept 2009)

VENICE - Owing to its success in 2008, the festival management selected Digital Darwin (aka d2) as their official digital cinema partner again this year.

Since its creation in 2000 Digital Darwin has been active in the distribution, installation and maintenance of post-production technology and digital cinema projection.

Besides Belgium and Italy, activities in France and Spain have also recently been launched.

“We are very glad to improve digital cinema applications through our partnership with d2/Digital Darwin. Our aim is to put on the screen the intent of the story’s creator and ensure the highest quality,” explains Mr Luigi Cuciniello, Managing Director of the Cinema Department of La Biennale di Venezia.

“Around the world, production, distribution and film companies are going through an enormous digital revolution. In the coming years, the more than 100-year-old film will be replaced by a digital copy (hard disk or digital transmission). This change has already begun and is taking place at different paces in each country. The past two years, d2 has invested in research in order to provide a total solution for post-production companies who want to deliver digital film as well as film companies who need technological support. The solution consists of a healthy balance of standard technology and custom-work (as well as d2’s digital glue, or software). The goal of d2 is to become a technology and service partner who can shape the future of digital cinema together with its clients and partners,” James Troch, Managing Director explains.

D2 is the European distributor of the cinema technology of American-Indian Qube Cinema Inc. and the French Dvidea. For the 66th Mostra, d2 uses its own technology and that of Qube Cinema and Barco.
