FreeFair DRC Launches Operations in Congo

KINSHASA, Democratic Republic of the Congo, November 15, 2011 -

FreeFair DRC kicked off activities in Kinshasa Monday with a panel event to discuss the troubling spectre of election-related violence that continues to mount in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

With external pressure mounting, FreeFair DRC is joining other Congolese and international NGOs in urging commitment to ensuring free, fair and peaceful elections on 28 November.

At the event, FreeFair DRC premiered a video highlighting its international campaign to raise awareness about the election. The video can be viewed at freefairdrc.com/en/momentum-building

Speakers at the panel event have pledged to make themselves available to outside reporters who plan to cover the elections. Among those speakers are:

• Jonas Tshiobela Kabiena, of La Nouvelle Societe Civile Congolaise.
• Rostin Manketa, Deputy Executive Director of La Voix de Sans Voix
• Professor Henry Koko, a historian at IFASIC, National School of Communication
