LONDON -
- London Designer Opens up NY Fashion Week Event to Public
Gareth Pugh will for the first time have a fashion week presence in New York, presenting his new film directed by Ruth Hogben at MAC & Milk, 450 West 15th Street in the Meatpacking District on Sunday 13 September. Fashion Week guests will attend a private viewing between 8 - 10pm at Milk Studios on 450 West 15th Street, after which, from 10pm until midnight, it will be opened up to the public including design school students, at 449 W 14th Street. These guests will be activated through MAC’s facebook page to which anyone can join. Fans will then be sent event details by 10 September latest.
“When MAC invited me to be part of their New York Fashion Week plans, I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me to make a new fashion film… It will hopefully set the mood for my catwalk show which will take place as usual in Paris. It will represent the essence of what the show this season is about, although it couldn’t be further from a trailer, it’s more of an abstract insight. I am very honoured to be able to come to New York and be a part of fashion week and would like to extend my thanks and gratitude to all the people who have made this project possible.” Gareth Pugh
“The MAC and Milk partnership is an evolution, a truly integrated collaboration between fashion and makeup artistry,” says John Demsey, Group President, EstĂ©e Lauder Companies. “We have supported Gareth for many seasons and when the MAC & Milk partnership started coming to life we knew that he had to be involved. Gareth has created a conceptual film in support of MAC & Milk, which will be launched on September 13th. This film presentation is exactly the kind of work we hoped the MAC & Milk initiative would inspire. And, since he has never participated in New York Fashion Week, it makes it all the more exciting.”
Gareth Pugh and the film’s director Ruth Hogben, will be attending the event, as well as his closest creative collaborators.
With so many designers participating at MAC & Milk this season, including Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler, Milk Studios Founder Mazdack Rassi says: “It’s not just an alternative show space we are creating, but truly a movement.”
Gareth Pugh will be holding his Spring/Summer 2010 catwalk show in Paris, 19:00, Wednesday 30 September at Palais de Tokyo.
