Groundbreaking Endoscopy Device by RF Co., Ltd. Acclaimed by Frost & Sullivan

LONDON, August 6, 2010 - Recently, Frost & Sullivan awarded RF Co., Ltd. with the "2010 European
Medical Technologies Product Leadership of the Year Award." According to
Frost & Sullivan's analysis of the endoscopy devices market, the capsule
endoscope Sayaka surpassed its contemporaries in terms of price, efficiency
and performance. This product is expected to substantially aid the medical
examination market by enabling its contribution to preventative medicine.

Sayaka's primary function is to capture and store digestive tract images
in the form of map data, providing physicians with a comprehensive,
accessible database. Image analysis software then scans this database of
tract images for abnormalities, leading to the early detection of diseases
such as intestine cancer.
In developing Sayaka, RF Co., Ltd. employed an effective "Mosaicing"
technique. This method involves constructing the display of the final image
in the likeness of a long, flat map by instantly combining consecutively
captured photo images. Up to 20 photos are taken per rotation, and
approximately 870,000 photo images are taken in total from various angles.
RF's Mosaicing technology can help conduct a faster and more complete
endoscopy within the small and large intestines.
"The Mosaicing technique itself is so common that it can be found on
numerous websites," says Frost & Sullivan Senior Research Analyst Sreevidhya
Praveen. "RF's Mosaicing technology, though, was originally developed for use
with NORIKA 3, a previous model of Sayaka and has subsequently been improved
for use in the creation of Sayaka for the purpose of conducting a complete
endoscopy within the small and large intestines."
Sayaka is soaring through the global market of capsule endoscopes, with
an acceptance probability of more than 97 percent. While other products in
the market take eight to ten hours to obtain images and then conduct
analysis, Sayaka provides a thorough, and much faster, examination by its
Mosaicing technology. This efficiency could potentially pave the way to a new
method of small intestine examination.
"Sayaka will also be available at extremely low costs to make it
affordable to all strata of the population," notes fellow Research Analyst
Gideon Praveenkumar. "Sayaka should be released at US$100 against other
competing products that are currently available at US$400-500, thus giving RF
Co., Ltd. a competitive edge."
Although Sayaka is primarily designed to capture images of the whole
inner surface of the long digestive tract, it may be used for other existing
clinical applications. One example of this is that it can assist doctors in
locating and monitoring secular distortion. The afflicted section can then be
compared, or superimposed, by using biennially pre-recorded images.
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to a company that has
developed high-quality products which offer innovative
features/functionalities that enhance customer value and find immediate
acceptance in the market.
