LONDON - The Unicorn is to stage the world premiere of Siobhan Dowd’s hit children’s book, The London Eye Mystery, in Spring 2010.

Young audiences will join Ted and his sister Kat as they follow a trail of clues across London on a hunt for their missing cousin Salim, last seen boarding the London Eye. If he went up, he must have come down….right?

The new adaptation by Unicorn Artistic Associate Carl Miller (The Red Fortress) will star the theatre’s Ensemble: Samantha Adams, John Cockerill, Julie Hewlett, Liam Lane, Ery Nzaramba and Amaka Okafor, plus special guest actors, and will be directed by Unicorn Associate Director Rosamunde Hutt.

This gripping children’s mystery novel was published in 2007 to critical acclaim, and won six children’s writing awards in 2008.

The London Eye mystery opens at the Unicorn theatre on 6 March2010, and runs until 18 April.

Notes to editors

The Unicorn is the UK’s flagship theatre for young people. Our home is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art building, located on the south bank of the Thames, close to Tower Bridge and a short walk from London Bridge station. As well as creating its own productions, we host visits by some of the UK and World’s other great theatre companies for young people.

The Unicorn Ensemble is a six-strong team of resident actors that works with the Unicorn theatre company on a year-round basis, starring in all Unicorn productions and working with young people as part of the theatre’s education and youth programme. The Ensemble is made possible by a grant from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
