LONDON, January 11 - The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) today announced that Barratt
Developments has been appointed to its Delivery Partner Panels in each of the
Northern, Central and Southern regions.
Barratt is one of only two major UK housebuilders
[www.barratthomes.co.uk/About-Us/] appointed to all three panels. It
is now in a position to bid for further major projects on HCA and Local
Authority-owned land across the country.
"We are delighted to have been chosen as a delivery partner to the HCA to
help them develop their substantial landholdings in England during the next
three years," said Mark Clare, Chief Executive of Barratt Developments PLC.
"The work of the HCA has been vitally important to the sector during the
last 12 months and the land which it owns is an important element of our
current and future land supply.
"We are already working successfully with the HCA on a number of major
projects such as Allerton Bywater in Leeds, Upton in Northampton and Hanham
Hall in Bristol, the first Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6 zero carbon
community.
"We have other exciting partnerships such as Silverdale Colliery in
Staffordshire and Lambton Cokeworks in Sunderland approved and in the
pipeline.
"We have lower build costs than most of our competitors and a track
record of efficient delivery in partnership with the public sector. We are
therefore looking forward to working with the HCA on future developments that
help build the new homes which the country needs."
Eamonn Boylan, Director of New Ventures and Partnerships and Deputy Chief
Executive at the Homes and Communities Agency, said: "The Delivery Partner
Panel will speed up development on publicly-owned land and make it possible
for more homes to be delivered where they are in demand. We have worked
closely with Barratt in the past and look forward to more partnership working
for the benefit of communities around the country."
In addition to working on the HCA's own projects, panel members will also
be able to bid on projects brought forward by Local Authorities and other
public agencies for developments on their landholdings.
