By Icis, PRNESunday, July 17, 2011
NEW YORK and LONDON, July 18, 2011 -
ICIS Chemical Business magazine has revealed the ICIS Top
100 Chemical Distributors, with rankings based on 2010 sales.
“We are pleased to once again introduce the ICIS Top 100
Chemical Distributors - a global listing of companies critical to
the chemical supply chain. This is our second year featuring this
ranking, and this time, we also break out sales by geographic
region,” said ICIS Chemical Business global editor Joseph
Chang.
At the top of the list is Germany-based Brenntag, with €7.6bn
($10.1bn) in sales, followed by US-based Univar, with $7.2bn,
Germany-based Helm, with €4.2bn and US-based Nexeo Solutions (the
former Ashland Distribution), with $3.4bn (€2.5bn).
Currency conversions to US dollars for the ranking were based on
year-end 2010 exchange rates.
The ICIS Top 100 Chemical Distributors is a global ranking, with
regional leaders also broken out separately for North America,
Europe, Asia, Latin America and Middle East & Africa.
“We give special thanks to the major chemical distributor
associations that made this worldwide listing possible - the
US-based National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD)
href="www.nacd.com/">www.nacd.com, the European
Association of Chemical Distributors (FECC)
href="www.fecc.org/">www.fecc.org, ASSOCIQUIM
(Brazilian Association of Chemical and Petrochemical Distributors)
href="www.associquim.org.br/">www.associquim.org.br,
and the Canadian Association of Chemical Distributors (CACD)
href="www.cacd.ca/">www.cacd.ca,” said Chang.
“We are privileged to welcome a number of new companies into the
listing. We have also listed companies with sales below the
threshold of the Top 100. This year, we had over 160 listings,”
said Will Beacham, deputy editor of ICIS Chemical
Business.
“Distributors have recovered strongly from the financial and
economic crisis, with many companies showing solid gains in 2010
sales from 2009 levels,” Beacham noted.
