LONDON, November 2, 2011 -
Ridgeford Properties’ 10 Weymouth Street development in was among a handful of entries praised by the judges at this year’s European Copper in Architecture Awards.
In commending 10 Weymouth Street, the judges highlighted the transformation of “a relatively undistinguished six storey 1960s block in the heart of London, giving it a striking new identity with extensive use of brass cladding and dramatic cantilevered balconies.”
The judges were also impressed with the imaginative use of brass construction materials, especially how they will age and weather over time.
Chris Murray, Ridgeford Properties’ Managing Director, said: “We’re really pleased that our work on 10 Weymouth Street, including the Make architectural practice’s fantastic design, has achieved such recognition.
“As the judges noted, using brass gave 10 Weymouth Street great architectural appeal and, as a construction material, brass is a sustainable product and easily recyclable.”
