LISSE, The Netherlands - At 11.00 am on Thursday 15 October, His Excellency Mr K.G. Gevorgian, Russian ambassador to the Netherlands, joined forces with Keukenhof to add the final touches to the flower bulb mosaic of St. Basil’s Cathedral. The mosaic presents an impression of the towers of St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow’s Red Square. The Cathedral measures 21 by 12 metres and has been created from almost 65,000 flower bulbs. Its colourful splendour will reveal itself in all its floral glory in the spring of 2010.

The planting of St. Basil’s Cathedral on Thursday 15 October again highlighted the autumn planting of bulbs at Keukenhof. Over the next few months, approximately seven million flower bulbs will be planted in the park. Anyone on the look-out for unique bulbs to plant in their own garden can find what they need next weekend - from 16 to 18 October - at Keukenhof’s National Flower Bulb Market. Growers from across the Netherlands will be offering their products for sale. Keukenhof’s team of gardeners will also be giving plant demonstrations and offering a range of tips and advice and a tree expert will provide a guided tour.

In 2010, Keukenhof will be open from 18 March until 16 May.
