LISSE, The Netherlands, March 2, 2010 - From Russia with Love' is the challenging theme for Keukenhof 2010.
Russian landscapes, a Russian inspirational garden, Russian wildlife in the
children's play area and, of course, the inevitable dacha and matryoshka
dolls. Naturally, one of the inspirational gardens will be in Russian style.
Piece de resistance will be an enormous mosaic of the famous Saint Basil's
Cathedral in Moscow.

For several years Keukenhof has based its events on a particular theme.
China, and in particular Beijing, was the theme in the Olympic year of 2008
for example, and last year the chosen theme was 'USA, New Amsterdam - New
York
, 400 years'.

Keukenhof closed its sixtieth edition last year with a record number of
visitors. The origin of these visitors was perhaps influenced by the
worldwide recession. According to De Vries there were more Dutch, Belgian and
German visitors and a remarkable number from France and China. In contrast,
there was significantly less interest from the UK and the USA.

Art and culture have played an important part at Keukenhof from day one.
The floral splendour forms a magnificent decor for the fashion exhibition
Gone with the Wind. The fashion exhibition Gone with the wind (18 March to 16
May 2010
) in the Juliana pavilion at Keukenhof focuses on the creative ideas
of the Dutch fashion world. The organisation of this exhibition is in the
hands of the Zuiderzeemuseum, where it was first on display in 2009.

Keukenhof is the showcase of the Dutch horticultural industry, with the
emphasis on flowering bulbs. The exhibitions and events in the park
interrelate a host of Dutch items in the field of culture and the arts.
Unexpected approaches highlight various aspects of contemporary and classic
designs alike.

The official opening of Keukenhof 2010 is on 18 March, after which it
will be open to the public until 16 May.
