OpenNebula 2.2 Adds New Features to Help Production Clouds and Improves the user Experience With the new Graphical Interface Sunstone

MADRID, March 29, 2011 - The OpenNebula Project announced today the general availability of
OpenNebula 2.2 for download. OpenNebula is the open-source reference
technology to deploy enterprise-class infrastructure clouds, used by
thousands of organizations across multiple industries. OpenNebula 2.2 is the
seventh major release of the project and with it, it continues to fulfill the
promise of building a state-of-the-art open source toolkit that also
addresses the scalability, flexibility and security requirements of
large-scale production systems.

"With OpenNebula 2.2 we continue to make OpenNebula the open-source
choice to deploy an Infrastructure Cloud," said Ignacio M. Llorente, Project
Director at OpenNebula.org. "We are adding new features to strength the
production-ready nature of OpenNebula, making it the most proven, powerful an
interoperable technology in the cloud arena."

OpenNebula 2.2 extends the fault-tolerance features of the toolkit and
includes out-of-the-box integration with data-center's monitoring systems.

"We are also very excited with Sunstone, the brand new web application.
Since the start of the project we have received a lot of requests from the
community to include a graphical interface, and now OpenNebula 2.2 makes a
reality this long awaited feature," said Ruben S. Montero, Chief Architect at
OpenNebula.org. "Sunstone leverages the functionality of previous interfaces
and allows you to manage and administer your cloud in a graphical manner,
with lots of eye candy."

OpenNebula is the result of many years of research and development in
close collaboration with leading IT organizations. Many of its innovative
features have been developed to support business use cases from leading
companies in RESERVOIR, flagship of the EU-funded projects in cloud
computing. This last version also brings features developed in other
groundbreaking projects, such as StratusLab and BonFIRE.

The OpenNebula project would like to thank the community for their effort
and valuable contributions that have made this release possible; the European
Commission for founding part of the developments of this release; and our
private sponsor, C12G Labs, for supporting the community and software
contributions.
