HELSINKI, September 28, 2011 -

Close to 400 startup enthusiasts from all over Northern Europe witnessed the victory of Mancx in the very first Arctic15 startup competition. Mancx was titled as the most potential startup of the region in 2011.

Arctic15 saw six keynote speakers from around the world share their advice to a fully packed conference hall in Helsinki, Finland last Thursday (September 22nd). In addition, 15 startups took part in the Arctic15 startup competition to find the most potential, young startup of the region.

Each startup had 10 minutes to showcase not only their company, but present their services and products as much as possible. The competitors came from Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Sweden and Denmark. All companies were younger than two years and each is revolutionizing the industry they work in.

The jury consisted of Ruud de Jonge (Microsoft, Evangelism and Startups in Western Europe), Tine Thygesen (Co-founder of Everplaces and Founders House, Denmark), Petteri Koponen (Entrepreneur and early-stage investor at Lifeline Ventures, Finland), Richard White (Co-founder and CEO of UserVoice.com, US) and Daniel Blomquist (Entrepreneur, Venture Capitalist and Principal at Creandum, Sweden).

Mancx (Stockholm, Sweden) took home the grand prize of 10 000€ in cash while Graduateland from Denmark won the public vote and 5000€ worth of advertising on ArcticStartup.com.

Henrik Dillman, CEO and co-founder of Mancx comments: “We are very excited by this win as it validates our business idea and confirms our growth potential by high-profile investors and business veterans. We are already starting to deliver on our growth potential with the recent unveiling of the Mancx Matchmaker, which is just the first of a number of features and apps we are launching.”

Antti Vilpponen, editor and co-founder of ArcticStartup, also the organizer of the Arctic15 conference says, “It was really exciting to watch the jury debate on the winner - the quality of presentations and companies was very high, but Mancx came out on top as the winner in the end. Not only does the idea have a lot of potential, but so far the execution and approach was the best of the 15 companies.”

Arctic15 is to become an annually organized event to find the most potential startups in the Northern European region.
