Nanoradio Achieves WAPI Certification for NRX710 With a World Leading Performance
By Nanoradio Ab, PRNEThursday, February 11, 2010
STOCKHOLM, February 12 - Nanoradio today announced that its award-winning NRX710 Wi-Fi product has
been certified under China's Wireless LAN Authentication and Privacy
Infrastructure (WAPI) qualification, and the product is already launched in a
Tier 1 mobile phone on the Chinese market.
WAPI is a critical feature in China related to the security of Wireless
LAN networks. This certification makes Nanoradio's ultra low power WLAN
solution for portable devices, NRX710, an ideal option for China's many OEMs
developing leading wireless technologies for the rapidly growing Chinese
market. Nanoradio has already secured design-in of the WAPI enabled NRX710
with a handful Chinese OEM's and ODM's.
The WAPI standard affects WLAN enabled mobile devices and defines the
specification and testing methods in the Medium Access Control (MAC)
interface. In order to achieve certification, the Wi-Fi function must be
tested in accordance with the specification issued by the Chinese Ministry of
Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Nanoradio's architecture of Wi-Fi and WAPI authentication and security
mechanisms is more advanced than most of the traditional alternatives on the
market. The unique combination of software and hardware functional instances
results in significantly higher throughput than other solutions. This swift
throughput advantage translates into a noticeably improved user experience,
with internet pages and other content downloading at much higher speeds.
Thomas Rex, Vice President Sales, Nanoradio said, "China is a very
important market for Nanoradio, which is the reason why we have developed an
optimised architecture to implement WAPI encryption. The NRX710 has also
enjoyed good response from other regions. WAPI certification will allow
Chinese customers to benefit from the unique world leading performance and
small size from the NRX700 family."
