LONDON, December 14, 2011 -
(Executive Principal available for interview on this and education trends)
One of the first of the new Studio Schools in London and the South East will open in Fulham, South West London in September 2012.
Studio Schools, a new concept in education and designed for 14-19 year olds of all abilities, look and feel more like a business than a school, with a longer working day and year-round opening. Small mainstream schools for about 300 students, they teach the national curriculum and deliver the same key qualifications as traditional schools in an innovative way that combines academic and vocational qualifications with real work experience.
Fulham Enterprise Studio (a school for boys and girls) will be part of a new boys school Fulham Boys School on the site of the former Henry Compton School in Fulham. It will be part of the Fulham College Federation of Fulham Cross Girls’ and Fulham Boys’ schools. The Fulham Enterprise Studio will equip students with qualifications for further education or employment in media engineering (sound, light, set design and construction), services engineering (plumbing, electrics, maintenance) and construction (bricklaying, plastering, painting and decorating).
Bernie Peploe, Executive Principal of the Fulham College federation is available for interview on Studio Schools and how they fit into the changing education landscape.
