BARCELONA, Spain, February 9, 2011 - Mobile World Congress — Roamware, Inc., a leading provider of roaming
and mobile financial services (MFS) solutions, announced it has expanded its
portfolio to include solutions and services for non-roaming, in-country
mobile subscribers. The company has traditionally been known for its
expertise in developing mobile roaming services and solutions, working with
more than 480 mobile operators across 154 countries.
Bobby Srinivasan, CEO of Roamware commented, "The decision to provide
in-country services has been a natural extension to our roaming business. Our
close relationships with hundreds of global operators offer us deep insight
and understanding into what mobile consumers need, and we see an enormous
opportunity to work with operators to provide innovative value-added services
to their subscribers on their home networks. We expect our portfolio of
in-country solutions to contribute significantly to our business in 2011."
Some of the innovative in-country solutions and services that Roamware
has rolled out and deployed in recent months include:
- Temporary Number Service - An innovative service that enables operators to offer an additional number to an existing subscriber for a limited period without having to issue an additional SIM card. The service, which allows subscribers to have extra numbers without having to carry separate devices or switch SIM cards, is particularly useful to mobile users who need to share their number in the public domain for a short period of time. For example, an individual could share his or her number in newspaper advertisements or on to-let boards without worrying about it being misused. - Local Multiline Service - A solution that is designed to address the problems faced currently by mobile users who want to maintain multiple subscriptions. The subscriber will have one SIM but with two or more numbers. At any time, both MSISDNs can receive phone call and short message. The subscriber can choose to make calls or SMS from either number. Billing on each number will be separated. The subscriber need not subscribe to a special SIM card. - Virtual Number Service - A service in which a user can activate a number on any mobile phone operated by same operator or any landline operated by same operator, without requiring a SIM card. The user can also activate the service with limited features, from any other operator's mobile or landline phone. This unique service offers both reachability and communication without owning a phone. Once activated, the user can make and receive calls or SMS on the phone depending on the capability of the host phone and network. - Local Short Codes Service - A location-based service that routes mobile calls according to the subscriber's current location. A business can obtain an easy to remember three-to-five digit short-code number from its mobile operator that can be used by customers to access nearest branch of the business from any location. The number can, for example, direct short-code calls to the closest bank, customer care centre, taxi service, hospital or even a local pizza shop. This innovative service helps businesses in marketing of services and at the same time benefits consumers by enabling to easily connect to the nearest branch of a business.
