LONDON - Over 950 people will travel from across UK and Europe to queue for hours in London this week, and take part in an X-factor style audition for very unusual jobs.
Vacancies include zombie cheerleaders, Dracula, Marilyn Monroe, Cinderella, Captain Hook, Wolfman, The Terminator, a Wicked Witch, the Fairy Godmother and Bride of Frankenstein at Universal Studios Japan.
Shows such as The X-factor and Britain’s Got Talent have generated huge amounts of interest in the UK audition. Universal Studios Japan said they are staggered at the record numbers of people applying for an audition during this year’s 10th anniversary world-wide scout for talent. The number of performers lining up to audition this year has increased by 20%.
In the only EU auditions, applicants will use their spell-binding dance moves and (Prince) charming singing voice to work their magic on the theme park’s casting directors.
Successful applicants will enjoy an enchanting package: A monthly $US salary, daily living allowance paid in YEN plus financial bonuses, return airfares to a far away land (Osaka, Japan), a free fully-furnished apartment, insurance, excess baggage allowance, train passes, gym membership and the chance to travel around Japan.
More than 3000 people from around the world have secured an audition place for only 220 charmed roles.
Applications have been submitted from across the world, including Australia, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, China and even as far as Russia.
Successful applicants could perform for over 8 million visitors throughout their contract. EU audition dates 2009 - London 26 August - Singers 27 August - Dancers 28 August - Face Character/Actors Audition Website www.UniversalAuditions.com/japan
