- Desktop Messaging Provides Easy Access to Mobile Messaging From the Desktop and Laptop Environment
Acision, the world’s leading messaging company, today announces the successful launch of Desktop Messaging at MTS, the largest mobile operator in Russia and the CIS. The innovative new Desktop Messaging service is the result of collaboration between Acision and its partner Mobispine as part of the Acision Innovation Network. Mobispine’s Desktop Messaging enables MTS customers to send and receive messages from their computer through a dedicated desktop application plug-in for Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers.
The high-volume solution has been deployed by MTS in Russia and is integrated with the Acision messaging infrastructure already powering MTS messaging. In addition, Mobispine has developed a Lotus Notes application for MTS’ Desktop Messaging specifically for the Russian market.
“With Desktop Messaging we are enabling MTS to extend the reach of its mobile services and brand to the desktop and laptop environment. By providing easy access to mobile messaging on multiple devices, MTS subscribers now have mobile messaging at their fingertips while on the move, at home and in the office,” said David Frail, global market development director at Acision.
Pavel Roytberg, director of product development at MTS, commented: “We are offering our customers the ability to send and receive text messages directly from their computers as Internet penetration is growing rapidly in Russia. By becoming the first operator in Russia to offer desktop messaging, we continue to deliver the most innovative solutions to our customers.”
Joakim Hilj, CEO at Mobispine, said, “Desktop Messaging is rapidly becoming a ‘must have’ service for operators. We are delighted that MTS selected Acision and Mobispine to provide this service. This confirms our market leadership in converged messaging and helping operators deliver mobile services across different devices.”
MTS is the largest operator in Russia with 68m subscribers and one of the top 10 mobile operators in the world with 96m subscribers across the MTS Group (according to Informa Telecoms & Media, based on proportionate subscribers).
