Christopher Ipsen to Discuss How to Maximize Positive IT Security Changes During a Fiscal Crisis
LAS VEGAS, May 10, 2011 - Vanguard Security & Compliance 2011, the world's leading System z
security and compliance training event, today announced that the State of
Nevada's Chief Information Security Officer will be a keynote speaker at the
conference. As CISO, Christopher Ipsen is charged with securing Nevada's
heterogeneous IT environment. His keynote address will discuss what
organizations can do to maximize positive IT security changes during a fiscal
crisis. VSC 2011, which takes place June 20-23, is hosted by Vanguard
Integrity Professionals, the largest independent provider of enterprise
security software for System z.
The z/OS mainframe is at the heart of many large networks and needs to be
part of each enterprise's cybersecurity efforts. As the original cloud
computing platform, z/OS systems generally host more than 85 percent of the
critical data and applications of any organization where they are deployed.
The State of Nevada is one of many states that rely on a z/OS system for its
data processing and storage needs. With multiple departments on different
virtual images on a single z Series system, z/OS security and compliance is
of high importance to the State.
"We are honored to have Christopher Ipsen as a keynote speaker at VSC
2011," said Steven Ringelberg, COO of Vanguard. "His keynote will provide
attendees with important information about how to protect their critical
infrastructure while facing fiscal challenges: in other words, don't waste a
good crisis."
Ipsen is responsible for security oversight of the State of Nevada's
enterprise data and network infrastructure. He chairs the Nevada Information
Technology Security Committee and is a member of the Nevada Commission on
Homeland Security, the Nevada Technological Crime Advisory Board, and the
Sierra Nevada InfraGard Members Alliance.
Information Security Magazine named Ipsen winner of the Security Seven
Award in the Government category. GovInfoSecurity.com recognized him as one
of the "Top Ten Most Influential Government Information Security Leaders of
2011." Ipsen serves on numerous editorial and information security advisory
boards and is a member of the RSA Conference Committee. He holds national
certifications as Certified Information Systems Security Professional
(CISSP), an Information Systems Security Architectural Professional (ISSAP),
and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
VSC 2011 is the largest and longest-running educational event dedicated
