Tablet for GBP99.99 Includes a Year of Free Internet Access
BIRMINGHAM, England, April 14, 2011 - DataWind, a leading provider of wireless web access products and
services, today announced its first tablet device, the UbiSurferTouch7 at a
breakthrough price of only GBP99.99, incorporating a year of free internet
access. Sporting a vibrant 7" capacitive, multi-touch screen, the
UbisurferTouch7 was unveiled today at the Gadget Show Live at the NEC
Exhibition Grounds in Birmingham.
Like all Datawind products, the UbiSurferTouch7 comes with an embedded
cellular modem and SIM, that allows 30 hours per month of free internet
access across the UK on Vodafone's mobile network. Getting connected is as
easy as a swipe of the screen, with no requirements for signing lengthy
contracts, credit-checks, credit-cards or monthly fees. Suneet Singh Tuli,
CEO of DataWind commented, "Our goal was to deliver a perfect handy gadget
affordable enough that you'd buy for every member of the family, without
worrying about monthly fees or overage charges."
The ultra-thin, ultra-portable UbiSurferTouch7 is perfect for mobility,
not limiting the user to WiFi hotspots. Mobile network connectivity allows
access to Email, Facebook, Twitter, banking, travel, entertainment and
billions of other pages on the web, while on a bus, train or at the beach –
anytime & anywhere. WiFi connectivity makes the UbiSurferTouch7 ultra-fast,
but even on mobile networks, web pages are downloaded in 5 seconds on
average, due to DataWind's patented acceleration technology.
In addition to being the ideal mobile web solution, the UbiSurferTouch7
is a great entertainment tool. Rich multimedia functionality supports full HD
Video for watching movies at your convenience on a personal screen. The
flexibility of the UbiSurferTouch7 micro-sd card allows you to carry your
full music library with you. Tens of thousands of games await those that just
want to relax or hone their skills.
The power of Google's Android 2.2 operating system allows the
UbiSurferTouch7 at the size of an average paperback (yet a lot lighter and
thinner), to also serve as an Ebook reader. For those wanting to do serious
work, an office suite compatible with Microsoft office allows you to view and
edit Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents.
"The ease of use, low price tag and ubiquitous connectivity, takes away
all the excuses from not being connected all the time. This device is going
to revolutionize the way we work, play, communicate and take advantage of the
wireless web."
