DediPower Puts its Hosting Muscle Behind New Look BRIT Awards Website to Support Visitor Interaction, Online Voting and Video Streaming
READING, England, January 27 - DediPower is revolutionising the way The BRIT Awards engages
with today's digital audience by boosting the interactive capability of its
newly revamped BRIT's website, www/brits.co.uk - opening the doors to
online-voting and full multi-media streaming. As official managed hosting
partners, DediPower is providing the fast, high performance data processing
and storage facilities required to cope with the site's extreme visitor
numbers and high-quality, video-based content.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, The BRIT Awards 2010 with
MasterCard is shaping up to be one of the most dynamic shows yet. Robbie
Williams is already confirmed as recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to
Music Award and is expected to bring a stunning climax closing the show at
Earls Court on Tuesday 16 February. As the excitement builds, the newly
revamped BRIT's website, for the first time, unlocks the BRIT Awards footage
archive - 30 years of photos, footage and performances.
DediPower designed the hosting solution to be able to cope with the
varying real-time traffic demands of The BRITs website, which can peak into
the millions when the live event is broadcast.
Ged Doherty, Chairman of The BRITs committee comments "For the
30th BRIT's show we're planning a landmark event; that truly celebrates the
occasion and marks it as Europe's premier music show, and one of the biggest
media events of the year. As the official home of everything you ever need to
know, see or hear about the BRITs, we wanted the site, in its anniversary
year, to reflect the same digital excellence that prevails within music
industry today. Thanks to DediPower's hosting platform, we now have the
bandwidth and capacity to use the site as a 24/7 voting and viewing channel
for our international audience; while also unlocking our media vaults and
making 30 years of outstanding content available online."
Craig Martin, CEO DediPower Managed Hosting states, "We are delighted to
be involved with the BRITs - not just because of its high profile leadership
role in the British Music Industry, which is a key content driver for many of
our web clients; but also for its work with the BRIT Trust charity which,
through the event, has raised more than GBP11.2 million supporting young
people in music and education. Having recently established our own award
scheme aimed at young web-based enterpreuneurs,
(www.DediPowerDigitalAwards.com), DediPower is passionate about
nurturing young talent. By making voting more convenient and content more
available, we hope the new website contributes to the success of The BRIT
Awards' experience, making this one of the best years ever for all those
involved."
The website was designed and built using Drupal by Deeson eMedia who
confirmed that DediPower was the best hosting partner available. Tim Deeson,
Director, Deeson eMedia states, "Once a site goes live, support and
maintenance is vital - particularly for high-profile sites such as The BRIT
Awards. As one of our own preferred partners, we knew that DediPower offered
superior server technology and proven expertise backed by the highest levels
of support available. Its involvement ensures that the site will run 24/7;
with the capacity to support high volumes without any reduction in
performance or speed."
