OTTAWA, Canada - DEW Engineering and Development ULC of Ottawa, Ontario and Miramichi, New Brunswick is pleased to announce the recent signing of an Agreement with BAE Systems Bofors of Karlskoga, Sweden. The result of such a Teaming will be to provide a complete “Team Canada” approach to the production of the Bofors LEMUR Remote Weapons System (RWS) for Canadian programs.

With the recent Canadian Forces announcement to move forward with CDN$5.2 billion in vehicle upgrade and acquisition projects, part of this will require enhanced firepower. The proposed Bofors LEMUR is a family of RWS from 5.56 to 25/30 mm that will provide this added capability. This family also has a high degree of commonality and interchangeability which is ideal for long term support across the product range.

The Bofors division of BAE Systems has an over 350 year history and has the distinction of having had Alfred Nobel as a former owner. Since the late 1800’s they have been manufacturing superior weaponry.

DEW Engineering has supported the Canadian military since 1978 for many of the major trailer, vehicle and shelter re-life, re-role and acquisition programs with its development and manufacturing capabilities.

DEW is fully committed to Canada’s Industrial and Regional Benefit policy which requires 100% direct and indirect Canadian Content. DEW sees this new relationship with BAE Systems Bofors as a way to not only provide an improved product to the Canadian forces, but also to maintain Canadian jobs. As expressed by Craig Campbell, DEW’s Vice President of Business Development, “DEW is pleased to continue to expand and diversify our capabilities and experience. The agreement reached between DEW and BAE Systems Bofors will provide growth and stability for DEW employees now and in the future.”
